1.Q: Why the mechanical mileage is different from the digital mileage?
Ans: The inaccuracy is caused by the indicator and the circumference of tire, and the average of the accumulated error is around 0.5 ~ 1.5 km per100 km.
2.Q: Why regular RS232 cable can not be fitted with Baoruh¡¦s VDR?
Ans: Baoruh purposely uses ¡§male¡¨ connector in VDR to avoid future wear out.
3.Q: Are digital signals recorded by VDR while ignition off?
Ans:

There are 2 scenarios in this case:

  • a. If you connect VDR to Power On, it will stop recording when ignition is off.
  • b. In case you connect VDR to vehicle battery (continuous power supply), VDR will record data constantly.
4.Q: What¡¦s the power consumption during printing?
Ans: The thermal printer uses 5V and requires 2.5A during printing. The system requires 2W during normal operation and the power conversion ratio is about 85%.Thus, the overall power consumption during printing is 5*2.5/.85+2=16.7W
5.Q: How to deal with problems relate to GPS disconnection and interferences?
Ans:

The GPS receiver is recommended to be placed on the vehicle roof top or on dashboard inside the vehicle.

  • 1. If a vehicle has two GPS receivers installed, then they need to be at least 50CM apart from each other.
  • 2. The socket of GPS receiver might be damaged or stained.
6.Q: Why speed report shows interferences?
Ans:

There are two types of vehicle engines, the mechanical type and the digital type.If speed report shows interferences, you may attempt the following to solve the problem.

  • For mechanical engine:
    • 1. Check the butter inside of speed sensor enough for lubricating purpose?
    • 2. Examine the connection wires if they wear out.
    • 3. Check to see if the engine needs tune up?
  • For digital engine:
    • 1. Examine the connection wires if they wear out.
    • 2. Check connection point at signal source and wire.
    • 3. Check the condition of speed sensor.
7.Q: Why VDR does not start up when power is on?
Ans:

Please check the following before sending VDR unit back for repair.

  • 1. Is the fuse burned out?
  • 2. Is the wire connection loosen?
  • 3. Are there any damages to the wire connector?
8.Q: Why message ¡§please insert the driver card¡¨ pops up on the LCD, even after IC card is inserted?
Ans:

Please refer to the following instructions.

  • 1. Wipe the IC chip with a soft-eraser.
  • 2. If the IC card still does not work as expected after step 1, the IC chip could had been damaged. It is recommended to issue a new IC card for replacement.
  • 3. Try other IC cards on VDR, if it does not work, then the reader inside of the unit might be damaged, VDR needs to be sent back for maintenance.
9.Q:
How much exactly is the memory capacity of the VDR? If the capacity is 8MB, then why the VDR shows "Please download data" on the display every 2-3days?
Ans:

Baoruh¡¦s current VDR models adopt 8MB NAND Flash, if we calculate 30% of the data memory, it will be 2.4M.

You will need to find out the size of the Log file and Main.log produced each day. If the size proportion is 1:2 ~ 1:3, it is normal to treat ¡§downloading in every 2~3 days interval is normal¡¨.

10.Q:
Why a USB disc sometimes is unable to download raw data from a particular VDR unit, while it can do so to other VDRs?
Ans:

There are two possibilities:

  1. The versions of the firmware are different, you will need to check firmware version first if you come across the situation
  2. The connecting port of USB may be broken, you will need to send the VDR unit back for repairment.

11.Q:
Why vehicle data recorder (VDR) beeps continuously after vehicle speed reaches 20km/h
Ans:

There are two situations that VDR will send alarm warning.

  1. VDR will detect driver card automatically after power turned on, if a driver fails to insert his driver card while he is on duty, VDR will alarm to remind driver to insert driver card.Such beep reminder will shut off after 2 minutes automatically if no driver card has been inserted.
    ¡@
  2. If vehicle travels above the speed limit, VDR will beep to remind the driver to slow down. The warning beep functions as one beep for 1km/h above the speed limit, which means VDR will beep for three times if vehicle travels 93km/h above 90km/h speed limit.

12.Q:
How do I set speed factor in VDR?
Ans:

First, insert a manager card properly.

1. For vehicle NOT installed with AVL1000 (BR6891GPS module):

a)Press ¡§Function¡¨ to switch to ¡§Speed factor¡¨

b)Press ¡§Confirm¡¨

c)Drive vehicle to reach speed of 50km/h, and press ¡§Confirm¡¨ again to set speed factor.

2. For vehicle installed with AVL1000 (BR6891GPS module):

a)Press ¡§Function¡¨ to switch to ¡§GPS calibration¡¨

b)Drive vehicle in a straight direction to reach speed of 40km/h and continue the same direction and speed for 30 seconds to complete the GPS calibration.

3. For vehicle connects RPM signal:

a)Press ¡§Function¡¨ to switch to ¡§RPM calibration¡¨

b)Press ¡§confirm¡¨ before step on the gas to allow RPM to reach 2000rpm.

c)Press ¡§confirm¡¨ again to complete the procedure.
